Kiana ‘rookz’ Eastmond is a five-time award-winning music executive and founder of Sandbox Studios. Sandbox Studios is an accessible, creative space aimed at cultivating and empowering Canadian creatives. The studio name, “Sandbox,” references the uninhibited spirit of creativity, discovery, and expression of children playing in sandboxes. Over the last ten years, the company has opened over five locations in North America and worked with significant brands and stars, while also building local communities. The evolution of Sandbox Studios has been centered around creating more opportunities for Racialized creatives. In 2012, while on tour as an artist manager, Kiana recognized the lack of infrastructure for Canadian urban artists, which inspired her to open Sandbox Studios. As a music industry business development consultant, Kiana keeps Sandbox Studios innovative and forward-thinking.
